Getting started

What is Even Playground?

A POPIA-aware, multi-sport platform giving South African youth athletes a verified record they own — across primary school, high school, and senior squads. Coaches, parents, institutions, and media each get a dashboard tuned to their job, sharing one source of truth.

Who is it for?

Athletes ages 6 to 22, parents and guardians, schools, clubs, academies, federations, and sport media contributors (photographers and videographers).

How long does signup take?

Initial account creation takes about 2 minutes. Verification of institutional or parent status typically completes within 24–48 hours as we cross-reference your documentation against national sport bodies.

Do I need a credit card?

No. Athletes and parents are free for life. Institutions get a free starter tier up to 50 athletes. Only larger institutional and media tiers require payment, and even those do not collect card info at signup.

Privacy & safety

How is my child's data protected?

Privacy by design. Youth profiles are private by default — every field flips public only when explicitly toggled by the athlete or verified guardian. Argon2id password hashing. Append-only audit logs on every admin action. Full POPIA compliance for minor data.

Can a stranger find my child?

Not unless your child has chosen to be discoverable. Discovery Zone only shows fields you toggle public. Direct messaging from non-verified users is disabled for youth profiles. Verified institutions and authenticated scouts can request contact, mediated by the platform.

Can I delete my data?

Yes. POPIA gives you the right to deletion. Contact us at hello@evenplayground.co.za and we will remove your profile within 30 days, retaining only what is legally required (financial records, audit logs for compliance).

Roles & verification

Can I have multiple roles?

Yes. Most users start with one primary role. Inside your dashboard you can request additional role permissions — for example a Parent who also coaches at a club can hold both Parent and Institution-Admin permissions, subject to relevant verification checks.

What if my school isn't listed yet?

You can still register. Select "Request institution" during signup and we will initiate the onboarding process for your school or academy — usually within a week.

How are athletes verified?

Athletes upload basic ID and parental consent. Their institutional affiliation is verified by the institution's admin in their dashboard. Match results are verified by coaches, photographers tag athletes which adds a verification signal, and admin reviews flagged content.

Media & wallet

How does the media wallet work?

Verified media contributors earn R5 per accepted upload + R2 per verified athlete tag. Earnings accumulate in your wallet ledger and can be paid out via PayFast (payouts ungated as we scale).

Can I shoot at any event?

You create your own events in the media dashboard and upload to them. Verified institutional events show up as eligible. Always get permission from the institution and respect athlete privacy — many youth athletes opt out of public-facing media.
